Robertson’s Surgical Procedure and Expected Return

Dallas Stars’ leading scorer, Jason Robertson, is anticipated to miss a significant portion of the training camp due to a recent surgical procedure to extract a cyst from his foot. However, the team management is hopeful for his return in top form for the season’s kickoff. The surgical procedure was carried out on July 30, as divulged by General Manager Jim Nill. Despite Robertson’s absence from the main team’s activities in the camp, he will remain present with the team, monitoring his recovery progress. His recent return to skating, albeit solo, comes after six weeks of rest where he was unable to bear weight on his foot.

Robertson’s Participation in Training Camp

Robertson will be abstaining from skating with the team’s main squad to ensure his foot heals optimally, as explained by Nill. “Maintaining his well-being and monitoring his recovery remains our top priority. We might see him more active towards the latter part of the camp. At this stage, we’re primarily focusing on his healing process,” stated Nill. The Dallas team, renowned for reaching the Western Conference finals in the last two consecutive seasons, is set to begin their training camp this Thursday. The season’s inaugural match is scheduled against Nashville on October 10.

Robertson’s Stellar Career with Dallas Stars

At only 25, Robertson has made his mark as the Stars’ highest scorer for two straight seasons, participating in all 164 regular-season matches. He also held the position of the team’s second-highest scorer for two seasons prior. Last season, he garnered 80 points, including a team-high 51 assists and 29 goals. The forward boasts an impressive 314 points in his 292 regular-season career games, comprising 133 goals and 181 assists. In addition, he has scored 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 45 playoff games.

Robertson, a native of California, was chosen by the Stars during the second round of the 2017 draft, the same draft that saw the selection of Miro Heiskanen and Jake Oettinger. Robertson experienced a similar absence from most of the training camp two years ago due to contract negotiation holdouts. Nonetheless, he bounced back with 109 points (46 goals, 63 assists) that season, including multiple points in 34 games. Coach Pete DeBoer vividly remembers Robertson’s words regarding his previous absence from the camp: “It didn’t hurt me last time.”
