A Glance at Jaromir Jagr’s Last Professional Season

In a landmark event, veteran ice hockey player Jaromir Jagr has embarked on his 37th and likely final professional season, returning to his roots with his hometown team, the Kladno Knights, in the Czech league. The 52-year-old right winger started the season with a bang, setting up a power-play goal, despite the Knights’ 5-1 defeat to Pardubice on opening night.

Jagr’s First Season Opener Since 2018

For the first time since parting ways with the NHL’s Calgary Flames in 2018, where he held the title of the league’s second all-time leading point scorer, Jagr played in a season opener. It marks a significant reunion for the hockey legend, who returned to his starting team, Kladno, six years ago. Jagr, who now owns the team, first debuted with the Knights while still in his teens.

Playing Through Injury

Despite not being at his peak physical condition due to a muscle injury that halted his preseason training for a month, Jagr demonstrated his determination by taking to the ice against Pardubice. He believes that he needs additional game time to return to his top form. “That’s fine. [It was] the first game,” he commented to local press, indicating his optimistic outlook for the season ahead.
