Coach Pete DeBoer Makes a Celebrated Return to the Ice

After making a successful recovery from an appendectomy, Dallas Stars’ Coach Pete DeBoer is ready to step back onto the ice. His comeback arrives just in time for the team’s much-anticipated season opener. “I’ve received [the] go-ahead to return to the ice this Wednesday and then continue in my coaching duties,” stated an upbeat DeBoer.

Dallas Stars’ Practice Schedule and Season Opener

The Stars have arranged a practice session in Nashville, Tennessee, this Wednesday. This practice will serve as a prelude to their season opener against the Predators, scheduled for the following day. The team embarked on their journey to Nashville on Tuesday.

DeBoer’s Recovery and Minor Complications

DeBoer revealed that he encountered minor issues during his recovery from the procedure he underwent a fortnight ago. This surgery took place just days after the initiation of the training camp. It marked the first occasion in his coaching career, spanning 17 years as an NHL head coach and three with Dallas, that DeBoer missed any part of the camp.

Projections for the Dallas Stars in the 2024-25 Season

“I feel rather well,” he admitted. “The recovery took a tad longer than I initially anticipated.” In another crucial update, the Stars also welcome back their top scorer, Jason Robertson, who underwent a surgical procedure on July 30 to remove a foot cyst. Robertson has been back on the ice since the beginning of the camp, initially practicing solo before rejoining the team last week.

Robertson’s Stellar Track Record

Robertson, a 25-year-old forward, has proven his mettle over the past two seasons, playing every game and helping the team reach the Western Conference final twice. Last season, he accumulated 80 points, including 29 goals and a team-best 51 assists.

DeBoer’s Reunion with the Dallas Stars

DeBoer rejoined his team on Monday, leading the video session. He expressed his eagerness to return to the ice. During his recuperation period, DeBoer maintained open communication with his coaching staff and followed the Stars’ exhibition games via the team’s new VICTORY+ streaming service. “With a seasoned coach like myself and our outstanding staff, the transition was truly smooth,” he commented.
