Major Alterations in the Milwaukee Brewers’ Coaching Staff

The Milwaukee Brewers have announced a significant shift in their coaching staff, with Al LeBoeuf and Eric Theisen being promoted from their Triple-A team to fill the positions of lead hitting coach and hitting coach respectively. The information was made public on Monday by Matt Arnold, the Brewers’ President of Baseball Operations.

A New Era for the Milwaukee Brewers

The duo of LeBoeuf and Theisen are set to take over the reins from Connor Dawson and Ozzie Timmons, the former co-hitting coaches for the Brewers. LeBoeuf will assume the role of the lead hitting coach, while Theisen joins the Brewers’ staff as the hitting coach. The two have already showcased their teamwork this season, serving as hitting coaches for the Triple-A Nashville team.

The Future and Past of Coaching Staff

Dawson and Timmons have held the co-hitting coach positions for the Brewers for the previous three seasons. Arnold has confirmed that Dawson will continue as part of the Brewers’ coaching team next season, but Timmons will not be returning.

LeBoeuf, 64, has extensive experience as a Triple-A hitting coach, having held the role for the last six years, including a stint in Nashville since 2021. His coaching career includes service with the farm systems of the Philadelphia Phillies (1989-2000), New York Mets (2001-05), Kansas City Royals (2006), and Toronto Blue Jays (2007-09). He became part of the Brewers organization in 2010.

LeBoeuf’s Impact on the Brewers

“In his 15 seasons with the organization, Al has been instrumental in shaping many of the young hitters you see on the major league team today,” Arnold expressed in his statement. “His deep connections and rapport with these players will undoubtedly be an asset to us. We are thrilled for Al after his long journey to get here.”

Theisen’s Journey with the Brewers

Theisen, 39, has dedicated the last four seasons to the Brewers organization. He joined the Brewers as a hitting coach with Single-A Carolina in 2021.

“Al and Eric have proven their effectiveness as a team in our farm system, and we are excited for them to join Connor at the major league level,” Arnold added. “We also want to express our gratitude to Ozzie for his significant contributions both on the field and as an individual over the last three seasons. We wish him all the best.”

Under the leadership of first-year manager Pat Murphy, the Brewers ranked sixth in the majors for runs scored (777), eighth in batting average (.248), fourth in on-base percentage (.326), 13th in slugging percentage (.403), and 10th in OPS (.729). They accomplished this while securing their second consecutive NL Central title this season.
