Calen Addison May Join Dynamo Moskva After Sharks Stint

San Jose Sharks

Calen Addison, a former defenseman for the San Jose Sharks, is reportedly on the radar of Dynamo Moskva in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). After spending part of the 2023-24 season with the Sharks, where he suited up for 60 games, Addison’s next move could see him heading overseas.

Mike Grier, the Sharks’ general manager, brought Addison into the fold in hopes of bolstering the team’s offensive capabilities from the blue line. While Addison did contribute to the offense, his performance revealed some significant weaknesses that ultimately led the Sharks to decide against extending a qualifying offer to retain him at season’s end.

In the trade that brought him to San Jose, the Sharks exchanged a fifth-round draft pick and Adam Raska, who has also ventured abroad to continue his career. The impact of Addison’s brief tenure with the Sharks was minimal, as he managed just one goal and 12 points during his time in teal.

Since leaving San Jose, Addison has become a journeyman in the American Hockey League, playing for three different teams over the past two seasons. Reports from Sport-Express in Russia indicate that Dynamo Moskva is interested in signing the 26-year-old, but as of now, no official agreement has been reached.

Throughout his NHL career, which spans four seasons, Addison has recorded six goals and amassed a total of 50 points in 152 games. Should he finalize a deal with Dynamo, he would reunite with Yegor Rimashevsky, a Sharks prospect drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft.
