Sharks Trade for Andre Gasseau, Strengthening Organizational Depth

The San Jose Sharks have bolstered their roster by acquiring forward Andre Gasseau along with the 120th overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft from the Boston Bruins. In return, the Sharks have sent the 104th and 157th overall picks in this month’s draft to Boston.

At just 22 years old, Gasseau was originally chosen by the Bruins as the 213th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. A native of Garden Grove, California, he initiated his hockey journey with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings, later advancing through the USHL and the US National Team Development Program. His collegiate career saw him shine at Boston College, where he spent four seasons and served as captain during his senior year, even sharing the ice with current Sharks forward Will Smith in the 2023-24 season.

While Gasseau may not yet be seen as a game-changing player at the NHL level, his acquisition is expected to provide valuable depth for the Sharks’ organization, particularly at the AHL and ECHL levels. The Sharks are now faced with a pressing deadline to sign Gasseau to an entry-level contract. If they fail to do so by August 15, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
