Avalanche Bolster Depth with Key Minor League Signings

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche have taken significant steps to enhance their organizational depth after committing much of their salary cap space to Jaden Schwartz and Noah Juulsen on July 1. With the Colorado Eagles in need of reinforcements following the loss of several roster players from the 2025-26 season, these recent signings will help restore veteran presence and provide the Avalanche with additional options.

Targeting depth from the Minnesota Wild, the Avalanche have signed two forwards with prior experience in their organization. Vinnie Hinostroza, a former sixth-round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012, has signed a two-year, two-way contract. Most recently part of the Florida Panthers, Hinostroza has played for multiple teams throughout his career, including stints in the AHL, and will serve as valuable depth for both the Avalanche and the Eagles.

Alongside Hinostroza, Adam Beckman joins the Avalanche after being drafted by the Wild in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft. The left winger spent the last two seasons with the Bridgeport Islanders and last saw NHL action in the 2023-24 season. With Alex Barre-Boulet departing for the San Jose Sharks, Beckman’s addition, especially as a 30-goal scorer, will bolster the Eagles’ offense.

On the blue line, the Eagles have secured youthful experience by signing left-shot defenseman Domenick Fensore, originally a third-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2019. Despite limited NHL opportunities with only three games played, Fensore has proven to be a productive defenseman for the Chicago Wolves in recent seasons. With the loss of Jack Ahcan and Jacob MacDonald in free agency, the Eagles are looking for Fensore to step up as a quarterback for their power play.

Additionally, the Avalanche have brought in Christian Wolanin to strengthen their defensive lineup. Standing at 6-foot-2, Wolanin is a left-shot defenseman who was a fifth-round pick by the Ottawa Senators in 2015. He has enjoyed a lengthy professional career, most recently on an AHL contract with the Providence Bruins. Wolanin’s prior success, including a Calder Cup victory with the Abbotsford Canucks and a total of 124 points over three seasons with the team, makes him an intriguing addition. Notably, he is also the son of former Avalanche and Stanley Cup champion Craig Wolanin.

As the Avalanche continue to shape their roster, fans are left wondering who else might be added. Share your thoughts in the comments!
