Astros Place LaMonte Wade Jr. on IL, Recall Joey Loperfido from Triple-A

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros are set to place outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. on the 10-day injured list, as reported by Brian McTaggart. In a corresponding move, the team will recall outfielder Joey Loperfido from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Wade Jr. had made a significant impression since joining the Astros on June 4, showcasing his talent with a .333 batting average, .385 on-base percentage, and an impressive 1.135 OPS. Over the span of just four games, he recorded two doubles, one home run, and drove in four runs. However, his time on the field was cut short when he sustained an injury while hustling down the line for a base hit.

Meanwhile, Loperfido, who was brought back into the Astros fold during the offseason, has been working to regain his form after an earlier injury. Prior to his stint on the IL, he batted .276 with a .348 OBP and .711 OPS, contributing five doubles and seven RBIs over 58 at-bats. After being optioned to Triple-A following his activation last Thursday, Loperfido has been performing well, hitting .297 with a .381 OBP and .732 OPS, including two doubles and four RBIs in 37 at-bats.
