Midfielder Tyler Adams Prepares for Premier League Return with Bournemouth

Bournemouth’s midfielder, Tyler Adams, is gearing up to mark his debut for the season in the Premier League match against Arsenal this coming Saturday. Bournemouth’s head coach, Andoni Iraola, confirmed at a press briefing on Friday. “He’s been short on game time, which is to be expected,” stated Iraola. “However, he’s in great shape, positively progressing, and has been training exceptionally well with us during the international break. He is ready.”

Adams’ Road to Recovery

In the 2022 World Cup, Adams, who captained the United States team, underwent back surgery in early July. His last season was curtailed to just three Premier League matches due to a hamstring injury that kept him off the field from September 27 until March 13. He made two comeback appearances, but back spasms kept him from playing for Bournemouth after March 30. This Saturday, against Arsenal, could mark Adams’ first appearance of the season.

Adams’ Performance in the United States Team

The 25-year-old Adams represented the U.S. in a full match, which saw the team bow out from the Copa América following a 1-0 loss to Uruguay in the group stage on July 1. Soon after, he underwent back surgery. Mauricio Pochettino, the newly appointed U.S. coach, did not include Adams in the squad for friendlies against Panama and Mexico in the past week. The U.S. claimed a 2-0 victory over Panama but experienced a similar score defeat against Mexico on Tuesday night.

Adams could potentially return to the national team for a two-leg Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal against Jamaica in the coming month.

Tim Weah’s Return to Juventus

In related news, Tim Weah, Adams’ U.S. teammate, is also slated for a comeback this weekend. The 24-year-old has missed the USMNT’s October friendlies and has only made four appearances for Juventus this season due to an ankle injury. However, Juventus’ manager, Thiago Motta, confirmed on Friday that Weah is fit to return for the Serie A side in the match against Lazio on Saturday.
