Logan O’Connor Commits to a Six-Year Extension with Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche recently delighted their fans with the announcement of a long-term contract extension for their lead forward, Logan O’Connor. The agreement, which spans six years, will commence from the 2025-26 season and extend until the 2030-31 season.
While the team refrained from disclosing the financial specifics of the deal, numerous sources peg the average annual value at $2.5 million. The total value of the contract is therefore estimated to be around $15 million.
Logan O’Connor’s Career Highlights
O’Connor, who is 28 at present, recorded a career-best 13 goals and 25 points in total in the previous season. This impressive performance came despite him only participating in 57 games due to a hip surgery.
The forward, who has gained immense popularity among the fans, began his career with the Avalanche as an undrafted free agent. Prior to this, he played at the University of Denver. Since joining Colorado, O’Connor has participated in 263 games and has accumulated 82 points, inclusive of 35 goals and 47 assists, along with 329 hits, 168 blocks, and 139 takeaways.
A Valuable Asset for the Team
“We are ecstatic to secure ‘OC’ for the next seven years,” expressed Chris MacFarland, the general manager of Colorado Avalanche. He commended O’Connor for his relentless work ethic and competitive spirit, which bring an invigorating energy to the lineup each night.
MacFarland further praised O’Connor’s speed and skating skills, which make him a formidable two-way player. O’Connor’s value is further underscored by his proficiency in penalty killing, which is among the best in the team.
“Logan is not just an exceptional player, but also a great teammate who takes immense pride in contributing to the Denver community,” MacFarland added.
