Jordan Charron is back at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ development camp, and he couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s been just over a year since the Penguins selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NHL Draft, and Charron is eager to showcase his progress after a standout season with the Soo Greyhounds.
Selected with the 154th overall pick, Charron had already made a name for himself, scoring 10 goals and totaling 21 points in 48 games during his draft year. Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas, a known admirer of the Greyhounds, didn’t hesitate to bring Charron into the fold. At last year’s development camp, Charron stood out among his peers, hinting at the potential he would soon unleash.
Fast forward to the 2025-26 season, and Charron’s development truly blossomed. He finished with an impressive 25 goals and 47 points in 66 games, demonstrating a remarkable ability to dominate on the ice. Reflecting on his growth during this year’s camp, Charron noted, “Coming back to my second year, just being stronger and faster, I think just coming back for that second year gave me more confidence and kinda gave me some idea what the league was about.” He emphasized his focus on physicality, stating, “I kinda grew into my lower body and tried owning the puck in the corners more, tried to be a bigger guy on the forecheck, disrupt pucks, and I think I did that really well.”
Charron’s enthusiasm for returning to the development camp is palpable. He remarked, “Yeah, it’s my second year back, and it just feels good. Good to see the guys again, my other draft pick guys too, and meet some new guys in the organization, and it’s been really fun.” His excitement speaks volumes about his commitment to personal and professional growth within the Penguins’ organization.
Looking ahead, Charron is set to attend the University of Massachusetts after completing his junior career, having recently switched his commitment to the school. He reflected on his decision, saying, “I think meeting them and going to the campus, I kinda fell in love. The food there is really good, they’re one of the best in the country, so I kinda fell in love with that, and I love to eat. Even with the staff, they really made me feel comfortable, and I love how they play the style of hockey they have there, and I think I’m going to do really well there and try to make the NHL.”
As development camp draws to a close, Charron is looking to finish strong. He will participate in the development camp tournament, scheduled to kick off at noon ET at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. With his recent achievements and infectious enthusiasm, Charron is poised for an exciting future with the Penguins.
