Major Blow for New York Islanders as Anthony Duclair Faces Long-Term Injury

On October 21, 2024, the New York Islanders received a major setback when their star forward, Anthony Duclair, sustained a significant lower-body injury. The injury, unfortunately, is severe enough to sideline him for an extended period. However, the Islanders’ management is hopeful that it won’t jeopardize his entire season.

Official Announcement from the Islanders’ General Manager

The announcement of Duclair’s injury was made by Lou Lamoriello, the General Manager of the Islanders, on a Monday press conference. Lamoriello stated that further updates regarding Duclair’s condition would be provided the following day, after more comprehensive medical evaluations are carried out.

Incident Details

Anthony Duclair, 29, was hurt during the final period of the Islanders’ 4-3 victory against the visiting Montreal Canadiens, which took place on the prior Saturday. Duclair was aggressively advancing towards Montreal’s net when he unceremoniously fell, with minimal interference from Canadiens’ defenseman Jayden Struble. The fall caused Duclair substantial discomfort and he had to be assisted off the ice. Before his untimely injury, Duclair had one successful shot on goal during his 15:07 minutes on the ice.

Anthony Duclair’s Track Record and Contributions

Duclair joined the Islanders in the recent offseason, penning a four-year deal valued at $14 million. Despite the Islanders being his ninth team in an 11-year career, the Pointe-Claire, Quebec-born player has made a noticeable impact in his short time with the team. In just five games, Duclair has already scored three points, comprising two goals and one assist.
