In a significant move, the Nashville Predators have traded young forwards Fedor Svechkov and Zach L’Heureux to the Colorado Avalanche, signaling a shift in their roster strategy. The announcement came on Wednesday, with the Predators acquiring center Jack Drury, winger Chase Bradley, and a third-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft as part of the deal.
Predators general manager Chris MacFarland expressed enthusiasm about Drury’s capabilities, stating, “Jack Drury is a hard-working, reliable, full-sheet of the ice center who can handle the tough assignments while being elite in the face-off circle. His addition to our forward group bolsters our depth in the middle of the ice, and we’re thrilled to have him on our roster.”
MacFarland also highlighted the value of adding Bradley, a young forward with some NHL experience, to enhance the team’s overall depth. The Predators selected Svechkov 19th overall in the 2021 draft, and he has since played 122 NHL games, tallying 12 goals and 22 assists for a total of 34 points. Last season, he recorded 17 points in 70 games while splitting time with the Milwaukee Admirals, where he notched eight points in ten games.
L’Heureux, drafted 27th overall by Nashville in the same year, has appeared in 87 games, scoring nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. He began the current season in Milwaukee, where he excelled with 28 points in 30 games before being called up to the NHL, where he contributed five points in 25 games.
On the other side, Drury had a solid season with the Avalanche, playing 82 games and accumulating 27 points, including 10 goals and 17 assists, and he added five points in 13 playoff games. The 5-foot-11-inch, 186-pound forward was originally drafted 42nd overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2018. Bradley, meanwhile, has seen limited NHL action, playing just two games over the last two seasons, but he had a productive stint with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, scoring 12 points in 42 games during the 2025-26 season.
This trade marks the third transaction between the Predators and Avalanche in 2026, and the second involving MacFarland and his former team. Earlier this year, defenseman Nick Blankenburg was traded to Colorado for a fifth-round pick in 2027, and on June 16, forward Ross Colton and goaltender Isak Posch were sent to the Predators in exchange for multiple draft picks and goaltender Magnus Chrona.
