The Toronto Maple Leafs are bolstering their ranks, announcing the acquisition of forward duo Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz on one-year contracts, alongside a two-year extension for defenseman Cade Webber.

Veteran Forward Max Pacioretty Joins the Leafs

Pacioretty, at 35, has secured a contract valued at $873,770 following a successful professional trial during training camp. He delivered an impressive scoreline of 23 points, consisting of four goals and 19 assists, throughout 47 matches with the Washington Capitals during the previous season.

The veteran forward’s career, spanning 902 regular-season games, boasts a commendable tally of 668 points, split evenly between 330 goals and 338 assists. Additionally, he has contributed 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists) over 78 playoff games.

Pacioretty described his training camp experience as unique, stating, “It was a very challenging camp in the best way possible, exactly what I needed to get up to speed.”

Steven Lorentz Makes Transition from Panthers

Lorentz, 28, transitioned from the Florida Panthers with a contract worth $775,000. During the 2023-24 regular season, he scored three points (one goal, two assists) over 38 games. Furthermore, he added another three points (two goals, one assist) during 16 playoff games, culminating in a 2024 Stanley Cup victory.

Cade Webber Secures Extension

Webber’s contract extension will commence in the 2025-26 season. The two-way deal for the initial season transitions to a one-way contract for the 2026-27 season and carries an average annual value of $825,000.

During the 2023-24 season, Webber participated in 38 games with Boston University, contributing six assists. His efforts played a crucial role in propelling the Terriers to the semifinals of the 2024 Frozen Four.
