Golden State Warriors’ star player, Stephen Curry, will not be participating in the team’s preseason finale this Friday due to a sprained index finger on his right hand. The injury occurred during a practice session on Thursday, as disclosed by Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr prior to the Friday game versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not a Serious Setback, Kerr Assures

Despite the unexpected sideline stint for Curry, Coach Kerr maintains a positive outlook. He expressed his belief that the injury isn’t severe and anticipates Curry’s return to the court on the opening night Wednesday, where the Warriors will face-off against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Curry’s Injury and Its Implications

Curry’s finger injury initially emerged last Friday when his finger got entangled in a jersey during a game against the Sacramento Kings, leading to his absence in the subsequent game. Despite expressing some discomfort on Tuesday, Curry declared his readiness to play later that night against the Lakers. However, he removed a protective wrap on his finger midway through the third quarter.

Originally, Coach Kerr envisioned Friday’s preseason match as a dress rehearsal for the opening night. However, with Curry’s unavailability, he plans to experiment more with different lineups and rotations in search of his ideal starting five.
