Injury Updates Jeopardize Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Performance Against Philadelphia Eagles
Uncertain Status for Key Buccaneers Players
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting right tackle, Luke Goedeke, has failed to pass the concussion protocol on the Saturday before the big game against the Philadelphia Eagles. His status for the Sunday match-up has thus been downgraded to unavailable. Adding to the team’s injury woes, Rachaad White, the team’s starting running back, has been placed on the injury list following an illness, with his official status listed as questionable. This marks the third consecutive week the Buccaneers will be without Goedeke, who sustained a concussion in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders.
Goedeke’s absence was felt in practice throughout the week. Despite limited practice on Wednesday, full participation on Thursday, and limited involvement on Friday, the Buccaneers have struggled, conceding 12 sacks in the previous two weeks without him.
Possible Replacements Amidst Injury Concerns
Should White’s illness prevent his participation or limit his performance, the Buccaneers may turn to Bucky Irving as the next viable option. Irving, however, is nursing a hamstring injury that restricted his participation in this week’s practice and kept him out on Thursday. Despite these challenges, Irving has assured reporters he intends to play on Thursday. His official status, like White’s, is currently listed as questionable.
Roster Adjustments to Counter Injury Setbacks
For the second consecutive week, the Bucs have promoted veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard from the practice squad, balancing the scales with the injury-induced absence of rookie receiver Jalen McMillan and Kameron Johnson’s ankle injury. In response to recent performance issues with Jake Camarda, the team has also elevated punter Trenton Gill.
