Toronto Raptors Roster Reshuffle: New Two-Way Deal and Player Waivers

Toronto Raptors Reshape Team with Exciting Two-Way Deal and Key Player Waivers

Contract Updates and Roster Modifications

On a thrilling Saturday, the Toronto Raptors made significant changes to their team structure. The Raptors upgraded the contract of forward Jamison Battle to a two-way agreement, while simultaneously waiving guards Jahmi’us Ramsey, Jared Rhoden, and center Branden Carlson. The specifics of Battle’s new deal remain confidential.

With this reshuffle, the Raptors have reached the maximum limit of 15 players for their active roster, supplemented by an additional three players under two-way contracts.

A Closer Look at Jamison Battle

Battle, a 23-year-old undrafted free agent hailing from Ohio State, joined the Raptors on July 16 and has shown promising potential during the preseason. He has averaged 6.4 points per game, playing just under 10 minutes per game in five matches as a substitute. His impressive field shot accuracy stands at 54.5%, with a remarkable 57.1% success rate from the 3-point range.

Given the current injuries sustained by RJ Barrett and Bruce Brown, Battle, previously on an Exhibit 10 contract, is expected to provide much-needed depth at the wing position.

Farewell to Ramsey, Rhoden, and Carlson

Ramsey, 23, performed in seven matches, starting in one, for Toronto in the previous season and averaged 6.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Over three seasons, with both the Sacramento Kings (2022-23) and the Raptors, this 2020 second-round pick from the Kings has averaged 3.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in 39 games, starting in one.

Rhoden, 25, who spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, averaged 4.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 31 games. Like Battle and Ramsey, Rhoden was also on an Exhibit 10 contract, a one-year minimal salary deal that can include an optional bonus but lacks compensation protection.

Carlson, also 25, is another undrafted free agent from Utah who was previously on a two-way contract with the Raptors.

Upcoming Season for the Toronto Raptors

The Raptors are gearing up for their season opener against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers this Wednesday.
