MLB World Series Playoffs

Record-Breaking Resale Prices for World Series Opener at Dodger Stadium

On the evening of October 21, 2024, the asking price for secondary market tickets to the inaugural World Series game at Dodger Stadium, where the Los Angeles Dodgers are set to face off against the New York Yankees, began at an astonishing $1,358 on StubHub.

StubHub reports that the speed and volume of these ticket sales have not only surpassed the previous year’s totals but also quadrupled the rate at which tickets were sold during the 2022 Series.

Significant Increase in Ticket Sales for Games in New York

Interestingly, the demand for games 3 to 5, set to take place in New York, is 40% greater than that for games 1, 2, 6, and 7, scheduled to happen in Los Angeles.

Vivid Seats Reports Doubled Average Ticket Prices

Vivid Seats, a rival secondary ticket market, revealed that the average resale price of tickets for this year’s Series stands at $1,368. This figure is almost double the $685 average price for tickets to last year’s World Series, which saw the Texas Rangers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

To put this in perspective, Vivid Seats says the average resale price of tickets for the 2009 World Series matchup between the Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies was $550.

Breakdown of Average Prices for Individual Games

Vivid Seats disclosed that the average prices of tickets sold for each game were as follows: $1,302 for Game 1 on Friday, $1,392 for Game 2 on Saturday, $1,443 for Game 3 at Yankee Stadium, and $1,389 for Game 4 on October 29. Vivid Seats, however, did not reveal the total number of tickets it sold.
