Richardson’s Return Powers Colts to Victory Over Dolphins

Anthony Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, dismissed statistics on Sunday. His focus was purely on victory. After a three-game absence due to a hip injury, Richardson returned to the field, capitalized on Tyler Goodson’s debut NFL touchdown, and guided the Colts to a 16-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins, thanks to two fourth-quarter field goals.

“We entered this game with victory in mind, that was our mindset,” stated Richardson. “It’s heartening that we secured the win, despite the offense’s struggle for consistency.” Indeed, there were struggles. However, the Colts managed to secure the lead with Matt Gay’s 22-yard field goal with just over 8 minutes remaining. Gay extended the lead with a 38-yarder with less than 2 minutes left, before a crucial fourth-down stop at the Colts’ 33-yard line clinched their fourth win in five weeks. This victory was the third straight win at home, moving the Colts within striking distance of AFC South leaders, Houston (5-2).

“We should be scoring touchdowns more often,” commented Colts coach Shane Steichen. “We need to improve our play-calling, but ultimately, we found a way to win, and that’s what counts.”

Miami (2-4) was once again plagued by errors, and saw another quarterback, Tyler Huntley, leave the game due to an injury in the third quarter. Huntley, who did not return to the field, was replaced by Tim Boyle. Despite commendable performances from Devon Achane and Jonnu Smith, the Dolphins could not overcome their mistakes.

Despite their struggles, the Dolphins had a chance to level the score with a 54-yard field goal, but Jason Sanders’ kick hit the upright, leaving them trailing 13-10.
