Chicago Bears’ Keenan Allen Sidelined for Second Consecutive Game: An Update on Team Injury Status

Chicago Bears Facing Week 3 without Key Player Keenan Allen

Chicago Bears’ Injury Update: Keenan Allen Out for the Second Game

The Chicago Bears will face their second consecutive game without the services of their wide receiver, Keenan Allen. The 32-year-old player has been sidelined due to a heel injury, which also caused him to miss out on the Bears’ 19-13 defeat in Houston. Allen’s absence was confirmed for the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, following his non-participation in the week’s three practices.

Other players also ruled out for the upcoming match include fullback Khari Blasingame (hand/knee), running back Travis Homer (finger), and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin). The team’s right guard, Nate Davis, who is nursing a groin injury, remains questionable.

Keenan Allen’s Injury Status: Coach Eberflus Provides Insight

Allen, who contributed four catches for 29 yards in the Bears’ victorious season opener against the Tennessee Titans, will not accompany the team to Indianapolis. Coach Matt Eberflus cited personal reasons for this decision.

Despite the ongoing situation, Eberflus provided a positive outlook on Allen’s condition. “His heel was improving,” Eberflus shared. “He’s actively collaborating with the trainers. His speed, movement, and cutting abilities are showing improvement.”

Although Allen missed six consecutive practices, Eberflus expressed no concerns about the injury creating long-term issues. He described Allen’s condition as “day-to-day” and emphasized that he does not believe the wide receiver’s heel injury will become a season-long problem.

“Keenan will return when he is physically ready,” Eberflus added. “Our training staff is doing an excellent job, and they are working hard to get him back on the field as soon as possible. Keenan has been putting in significant effort to facilitate his recovery… He has been active on the field, moving and cutting. We’ll assess the situation again next week.”
