Seattle Seahawks: Injury Updates and Optimistic Outlook for Week 4

Assessing the Injury Status of Seahawks’ Star Players

Seattle Seahawks Face Injury Challenges Ahead of Sunday’s Game

In Renton, Washington, the Seattle Seahawks’ star running back, Ken Walker III, is marked as doubtful for Sunday’s match against the Miami Dolphins due to an enduring oblique injury. The injury benched Walker in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, but Seahawks’ coach Mike Macdonald remains “very optimistic” about Walker’s return in Week 4. He believes the additional rest day before their game against the Detroit Lions on “Monday Night Football” will be beneficial for Walker.

The Seahawks will have to compensate for the absence of at least two other starters in the Sunday game against Miami, with outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee) and right tackle George Fant (knee) both declared out of play. Jerome Baker, the team’s starting inside linebacker (hamstring), is also labeled as doubtful.

Optimistic Outlook for Injured Seahawks’ Players

Nwosu will miss a third consecutive week due to the MCL sprain he sustained in the final preseason Seahawks’ match. However, according to Coach Macdonald, Nwosu is “progressing really quickly” and is hopeful about returning to the field next week.

Walker’s injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ opening game, causing him to miss their victory over the Patriots on Sunday. Walker’s participation was limited in his first practice since the injury on Friday. Coach Macdonald noted, “Ken Walker’s condition doesn’t look great for the game right now, but he’s working tirelessly to recover.”

In Walker’s absence, Zach Charbonnet took the helm against the Patriots, participating in all but three of the Seahawks’ 70 offensive snaps. Charbonnet ended the game with 69 yards and a touchdown from 19 touches. No other running back from Seattle got a carry or a target. Kenny McIntosh is the team’s third-string running back. The Seahawks’ practice squad includes George Holani and Brittain Brown, though Holani is currently nursing an ankle injury.

Mafe, Wallace, and Shenault Jr. Expected to Play

Despite injuries, Macdonald expressed optimism that outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee), safety K’Von Wallace (shoulder), and wide receiver/kickoff returner Laviska Shenault Jr. (foot) will be fit to play Sunday. After missing Wednesday’s practice, Mafe was limited the past two days. “He’s trending positively,” Macdonald said. “Looked good today, so we’ll monitor it over the next couple of days, but it looks good with Boye.”

Meanwhile, the status of outside linebacker Derick Hall (hip) and tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot) remains questionable.
