Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Key Player Faces Uncertainty Ahead of the Monday Night Clash

NFL Update on Mike Evans’ Health Status

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Pro Bowl wide receiver, Mike Evans, is currently a game-time decision for the Monday night match against the Baltimore Ravens, revealed Coach Todd Bowles on a recent Saturday. Evans’ participation in Thursday and Friday practices was compromised due to a hamstring injury, but he managed to participate in some capacity during the Saturday practice, according to Bowles.

Coach Bowles’ Statement on Evan’s Condition

“He was involved in several activities today, which was promising,” said Coach Bowles. “We’ll inspect his condition over the next two days and see how he’s feeling… His status at the moment is uncertain.” Bowles further explained that this is not a new injury for Evans, but rather a recurring one. Evans strained the injury during the previous week’s match against the New Orleans Saints.

Evans, with a track record of missing only nine games in 10 seasons due to injury or illness, is a crucial part of the Buccaneers’ strategy. He recently became the franchise’s all-time top scorer and is currently tied for the league lead with five receiving touchdowns.

Injury Updates on Other Buccaneers’ Players

Bowles also provided an update on the Buccaneers’ 2024 first-round draft pick and starting center, Graham Barton. Despite limited participation in the Thursday and Friday practices, Barton’s recovery this week has been satisfactory, and he is expected to play Monday night.

Second-year wide receiver Trey Palmer, who sat out the past two games due to a concussion, is also ready to return. He fully participated in Friday’s practice without any complications.

However, the Buccaneers will miss starting cornerback Jamel Dean due to a hamstring injury. Rookie cornerback Tyrek Funderburk is anticipated to fill in, as he did last week, along with second-year cornerback Josh Hayes.

Speaking about Funderburk’s performance, Bowles said, “Considering it was his first time on the field and he missed preseason as well, he did quite well. With a game under his belt, he’ll be more poised and self-assured. Both he and Hayes will get some time on the field. We’re eager to see them play.”

Unfortunately, wide receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle) and tight end Payne Durham (calf) will both be sidelined due to injuries.
