Tom Brady Set to Make History as Minority Owner of Las Vegas Raiders
Insider Information Reveals Brady’s Potential Raiders Ownership
As per reliable resources, NFL legend Tom Brady is allegedly on the verge of securing a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. An inside scoop revealed that Brady’s proposal is set to be presented at the upcoming NFL fall owners meeting in Atlanta. This information was disclosed by well-placed sources on Saturday.
The NFL’s finance committee has reportedly scrutinized Brady’s proposal and intends to present it for a vote among the franchise owners. To secure the deal, Brady would require the approval of at least 24 out of the 32 team owners. However, insiders shared that the committee wouldn’t have taken Brady’s bid this far if it wasn’t likely to get the green light. This situation indicates that the approval of Brady’s minority ownership is becoming a mere formality.
Finance Committee Gives Brady Thumbs Up
Brady’s bid has already received unanimous approval from the finance committee, a decision that hasn’t been opposed by the owners in recent memory. Consequently, it appears that Brady, together with business tycoon Tom Wagner, is mere days from acquiring approximately a 10% stake in the Raiders from the current owner, Mark Davis.
This agreement, initially established in May 2023, had to undergo some modifications after the league’s financial committee deemed the initial offer undervalued.
Mark Davis Welcomes Brady to the Raiders
“We’re thrilled to have Tom join the Raiders,” Davis expressed during his conversation with reporters at the time of the initial agreement. “It’s incredibly exciting as he will be only the third player in NFL history to transition into an owner.” George Halas and Jerry Richardson are the other two pioneers in this regard.
Before his final NFL season in 2022, Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, agreed to a lucrative 10-year, $375 million contract to join Fox as an analyst post his playing career. He hung up his boots in 2023 and is due to start at Fox for the 2024 season.
At 47, Brady is projected to join the exclusive club of high-profile former athletes who own a portion of a team. This elite group includes the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Dwyane Wade, Alex Rodriguez, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Mahomes, Warrick Dunn, John Stallworth, and Lewis Hamilton, who all have invested in various sports franchises.
