Aaron Gordon Cements His Future with Denver Nuggets

Denver Nuggets’ power forward, Aaron Gordon, has officially penned a four-year contract extension worth $133 million, as disclosed by Klutch Sports representatives Calvin Andrews, Rich Paul, and Elise Gordon.

A Key Player for the Nuggets

This lucrative deal, inclusive of a player option for the 2028-29 season and a trade kicker, was made possible by Gordon’s decision to opt-in on his $23 million salary for the 2025-26 season. He then added three more years at his highest possible pay, bonuses included. Such an arrangement lets the Nuggets retain an indispensable player, who played an instrumental role in Denver’s 2023 championship victory.

Filling the Void Left by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

After the departure of vital player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to the Orlando Magic in the offseason, it became crucial for Denver to ensure Gordon’s long-term commitment to the team. He proved his worth in the 2023-24 season by averaging 13.9 points per game, pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game, and maintaining a field goal percentage of 55.6%.

Gordon was initially acquired by the Nuggets at the 2021 trade deadline, after spending the first 6½ years of his career with the Orlando Magic. His adaptable two-way playing style was the missing piece to Denver’s championship-winning team, complementing the skills of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

Building Synergy with Jokic, Honoring His Brother

Gordon, now 29 and entering his 11th NBA season, quickly built a successful partnership with Jokic. This season, he will be seen sporting a new jersey number – switching from No. 50 to No. 32 in memory of his older brother, Drew Gordon, who tragically passed away in a car accident in May.
